“Invisibles”
Was officially nominated for a 2014
India Catalina Award
for “Best TV Show for Social Inclusion”

"Invisibles" is a 13 episodes documentary series which I created and directed for the public access network of Colombia, Señal Colombia. The series is a take on the historical discrimination and segregation process on colombian black communities, and their prominent members, who never had a place in the history books or had been falsely depicted by a variety of whitening and vanishing processes.

"What happens is that history has vanished every notable black person who has had a social and political impact In Colombia."
Jackline Howard.

The funding for the series came from a national grant for the production of ethnic content and it was aired by the national public access network Señal Colombia. Each episode told the unknown stories of black and afro-descendent characters long forgotten or mimetized as white looking persons by national historians.

Production Shots

To tell these stories we used a variety of techniques including interviews with different experts, and local inhabitants in every region where the historical characters had lived, voice over narrative, illustrations, and 2D animation.

Episodes Snapshots

The series was nominated at the 31st version of the India Catalina Awards in 2014 in the category of Best TV-Series for Social Inclusion. This series has been an important step into the vindication of the enormous contribution of the black communities in Colombia and its history.
